Budget & Saving, Saving & Budget

I have a new plan to try and get myself to save more and spend less. I feel like I have been wasting so much money on things I do not need (one big one is Starbucks). So, I have this new plan to withdraw X amount of dollars every week and have that be my spending money, groceries included. I'm only allowing myself to use the money in my bank account for bills and of course for savings. I have never been a cash carrying type of person, I just swipe my debit card and then stress about my bank account later when I see all the little things added up. I'm hoping this plan works because, seriously, I have failed in the last few months at saving any amount of money.

The biggest money suck is that I live by myself so all of the rent and all of the bills completely land on my shoulders. I am already looking and hoping to rent a house in the Tustin/Irvine area this summer and would want 1-2 roommates, sooooo if you know any reliable friends that are interested in living in that area please let me know!

It just gets better

Yesterday was the first show of the Spring Breakdown Tour in San Diego. While killing time before the bands started playing I stumbled upon this at a Salvation Army:

A papasan chair that has to be from the 70s. It is a swivel chair and the cushion is in great condition. I shined up the wood and febreezed like crazy and now I can't stop sitting in it. I also found the pillow which I'm pretty sure an old lady took her last breaths on. Such solid additions to my home. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE OLD THINGS.

Antique store finds of the day

Found some awesome additions for my old lady (wish I could call it vintage) inspired home today.

Sweet Jesus

Stained glass, awesome frame.

Another drinking glass. A little tidbit about me: I don't have matching glasses, all of them are different and from antique/thrift stores. Possible future picture post?

This was definitely the find of the day. A 1950s/60s stand mixer. I just bought the mixing bowl for it online and can't wait to use it to make cookies and other treats! Keep in mind, I barely got an electric hand mixer until a year ago. Up until then I hand beat everything with a whisk!

Gaining perspective

This week I learned that sometimes a person needs permission to pass away. It was one of the most beautiful things I have learned. I am 100% a believer in the necessity of letting a family member at the end of life know that it is OKAY to pass away, to let them know that you LOVE them and LOVED the life you got to spend with them. Let them know you are HERE for them, to REMEMBER them, to HOLD their hand as they move on to eternal life. Make them aware that you ACCEPT their passing, sometimes this is just what they need to hear, to FEEL in order to pass away. I don't know about you, but I couldn't ask for anything more when it comes time for me to enter into eternal life.
